After I completed the color study and could see what worked and what didn't work, I started my oil painting. After many hours of painting, I completed this 24x36 inch painting. You can see what I took from the color study and what I moved or added to make the painting more interesting to look at. The majesty of the mountain in the background almost diminishes the beauty of the bighorn sheep.
I am so taken with the beauty of these sheep that I am doing more sketches to prepare another painting. So, stay tuned for more bighorn sketches and color studies before the next large painting.
