I have been drawn to paint a series of the old wooden grain elevators that were the sentinels of the prairies for so many years. These aging icons are slowly fading away, falling down and being replaced with modern structures.
This is somewhat of a variation of my usual landscapes but I was compelled by some inner force to bring some attention to them before they disappear forever. I believe it is because they were always there when we travelled across the prairies to visit family and friends and just seemed to be permanently stuck in m memory.
These are the first 2 in my series. One is from Val Marie, SK and the other from Dufresne, MB. I will be doing several more over the coming weeks.
